Chex Mix…..AKA Party Mix
Ok, here it is. The recipe for the best Chex Mix you have ever eaten. This is my mother’s recipe modified over the years; I like a bit more garlic in mine.
In a small sauce pan melt a stick and a half of butter, use real butter, margarine doesn’t taste nearly as good. Add five table spoons of Worcestershire sauce, a teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons of garlic powder. Mix these together in the melted butter.
Put 2 cups each of Wheat Chex, Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Cheerios, small pretzel sticks broken in half, and an 11.5 oz. can of mixed nuts into a small roasting pan. I use the broiler pan from our oven, it should be a good steel pan, not one of the foil pans.
Pour the butter mix over the Chex mix and stir it in well, get all of the mix wet with the butter sauce.
Bake the mix for 45 minutes to 1 hour at 275 degrees stirring every 15 to 20 minutes. Turn the mix over to make sure it stays slightly wet with the butter sauce. I use the convection oven that seems to make the mix a bit crisper and keeps the butter sauce from burning on the bottom of the pan. Bake until the mix is starting to brown.
Let it cool, if you can wait, and enjoy!
