Rope Memory

I was watching a program today on the Science Channel called “Moon Machines – The Navigation Computer.”  This is a six part series that reviews the history of the development of the systems required to complete the Apollo mission to the moon.  This particular episode was on the development of the Navigation Computer used in the command module and the landing computer used in the Lunar Lander.  This was in the late sixties and computers were not what they are today.  The navigation computer has about 72Kbytes for program storage.  The software was being developed at the MIT Instrument Lab.  To store the program in the Navigation Computer they used Rope Memory.   This is a version of Core Memory technology that can be used as a Read Only Memory to store programs.  I had never heard of Rope Memory and I have been around computers for a very long time!

By weaving the sense wires through or around the cores of the memory they can hardware the program into the computers memory system.  Here are a couple of photos of the Rope Memory.

American Sniper

We went to see American Sniper today. It was a great movie. I have always enjoyed Clint Eastwood’s work as an actor, but he is also a very talented Director and Producer.

After all the criticism of the movie by the left, I can see why they hated the movie. The movie was about faith, patriotism, and it was based on a true story. There is nothing that the left hates worse than faith, patriotism, and the truth.

Rules for Radicals – Eight Levels of Control

You have probably heard about Saul Alinksy’s book, “Rules for Radicals.”  It is a classic with the left and a guide book for how to establish a socialist/communist society.  There are eight levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a social state. The first is the most important.

1) Healthcare – Control healthcare and you control the people

2) Poverty – Increase the Poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.

3) Debt – Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.

4) Gun Control – Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state.

5) Welfare – Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income)

6) Education – Take control of what people read and listen to – take control of what children learn in school.

7) Religion – Remove the belief in the God from the Government and schools.

8) Class Warfare – Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take (Tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor.

Alinsky merely simplified Vladimir Lenin’s original scheme for world conquest by communism, under Russian rule.  Stalin described his converts as “Useful Idiots.”  The Useful Idiots have destroyed every nation in which they have seized power and control.
Does any of this sound like what is happening to the United States today ?

But did you know that in 1969, Hillary Rodham Clinton wrote a 92-page Senior thesis for Wellesley College titled “There Is Only the Fight . . . “: An Analysis of the Alinsky Model” ?  One of the first things that the Clinton’s, and particularly Hiliary, work on when they entered the White House was universal healthcare.  Do you think that was a coincidence?  I think not, she was just starting at the top of Alinsky’s list of levels of controls.

Remember this when Hilary announces her run for the Presidency in 2016….remember it well.

LBJ:

We were attacked (in the Gulf of Tonkin)

Nixon:

I am not a crook

GHW Bush:

Read my lips – No New Taxes

Clinton:

I did not have sex with that woman… Miss Lewinski

GW Bush:

Iraq has weapons of mass destruction

Obama:

I will have the most transparent administration in history.
The stimulus will fund shovel-ready jobs.
I am focused like a laser on creating jobs.
The IRS is not targeting anyone.
It was a spontaneous riot about a movie.
I will put an end to the type of politics that “breeds division, conflict and cynicism”.
You didn’t build that!
I will restore trust in Government.
The Cambridge cops acted stupidly.
The public will have 5 days to look at every bill that lands on my desk
It’s not my red line – it is the world’s red line.
Whistle blowers will be protected in my administration.
We got back every dime we used to rescue the banks and auto companies, with interest.
I am not spying on American citizens.
ObamaCare will be good for America.
You can keep your family doctor.
Premiums will be lowered by $2500.
If you like it, you can keep your current healthcare plan.
It’s just like shopping at Amazon.
I knew nothing about “Fast and Furious” gunrunning to Mexican drug cartels.
I knew nothing about IRS targeting conservative groups.
I knew nothing about what happened in Benghazi.
I have never known my uncle from Kenya who is in the country illegally and that was arrested and told to leave the country over 20 years ago.
And, I have never lived with that uncle. (He finally admitted (12-05-2013) that he DID know his uncle and that he DID live with him.)
If elected I promise not to renew the Patriot Act.
If elected I will end the war in Iraq and Afghanistan within the 1st 9 months of my term.
I will close Guantanamo within the first 6 months of my term.
I will bridge the gap between black and white and between America and other countries.

And the biggest one of all:

“I, Barrack Hussein Obama, pledge to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.”

I believe we have a winner.

And one more good one:

New Page – Heathkit HP-24 Recap

I’ve added a new page to the website, a How-To on replacing filer caps in the Heathkit HP-24 power supply. The HP-24 is the AC power supply for the Heathkit HA-14 Compact Kilowatt linear amplifier. The supply was in serious need of having the filter caps replaced. So I shot a few photos with the cell phone camera and put together a short How-To on replacing the caps. The process is complicated by the fact that original replacement electrolytic caps are not available, or not available at reasonable prices anyway.

The Heathkit HA-14 is a great small linear amp. This is the second one I have owned. It is very useful if you work a lot of portable operation because of it’s small size. The AC supply can be jumper set to operate on either 115 VAC or 230 VAC. However, note that the power output is much better when the supply is operated on 230 VAC.

I also have the DC power supply for the HA-14 and it is also in need of some updating. I will document that process in a future page.
