New Page – Heathkit HP-24 Recap
I’ve added a new page to the website, a How-To on replacing filer caps in the Heathkit HP-24 power supply. The HP-24 is the AC power supply for the Heathkit HA-14 Compact Kilowatt linear amplifier. The supply was in serious need of having the filter caps replaced. So I shot a few photos with the cell phone camera and put together a short How-To on replacing the caps. The process is complicated by the fact that original replacement electrolytic caps are not available, or not available at reasonable prices anyway.
The Heathkit HA-14 is a great small linear amp. This is the second one I have owned. It is very useful if you work a lot of portable operation because of it’s small size. The AC supply can be jumper set to operate on either 115 VAC or 230 VAC. However, note that the power output is much better when the supply is operated on 230 VAC.
I also have the DC power supply for the HA-14 and it is also in need of some updating. I will document that process in a future page.
