Red Skelton’s Pledge of Allegiance

This is from Red Skelton’s television show in 1969.  It is terrific!  I don’t remember this particular show, but I did watch Red Skelton every chance I could.  I always loved him and his show.  This certainly puts the Pledge of Allegiance in a different light.

His comment about the pledge being banned because of the addition of “Under God” could have been an omen.  I wonder what Red would think about our country today.  I’m thinking that he would not be very happy.  I join him in that feeling.

Red Skelton was old time Hollywood.  He was from the generation of Hollywood “Stars” that actually had some character, loved this country, and represented it well.  Not like the “Progressive” stars of today.  I saw a sound byte this morning of “Hanoi” Jane Fonda criticizing Sarah Palin, give me a break!  I won’t even watch a movie that has Hanoi Jane it it.

Great Job Red!

You know, I think I remember actually seeing that on TV – I’m sure I’ve seen it online in the last few years. Like you, I watched Red Skelton every week.

They say that when the government fears the people, there is liberty, and when the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The government most certainly does not fear the people, or they would not have passed the Obamacare monstrosity despite clear majorities being against it. Have we reached the point of tyranny? Some people are afraid of the government. At best, we are midway from liberty to tyranny.

On one of the forums I read, a guy uses the sig line “America is at that awkward age. It’s too late to work within the system and too soon to shoot the bastards”. Guess that says that at best we are midway from liberty to tyranny.

As Red used to say, “G’night. And God bless…”
